Description: A two-component, 2:1 mix, bright white, high-strength epoxy structural adhesive used to bond and seal Arcoplast fiberglass gel coated panels, fiberglass accessories, aluminum moldings, and metal trim. Bonds and seals with a highly impermeable, non-yellowing, high-gloss finish. It is environmentally neutral, with no odor after curing. However, a slight odor exists while curing.
Purpose: For sealing and finishing, particularly for featheredge applications such as interior corner junctions, panel seams, and bulkhead details. Specifically designed for contamination- critical environments, including food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications and animal science. Not for direct food contact. Features: - Structurally sound A structural adhesive that provides a sound bond.
- Non-porous Does not encourage bacterial growth. Impervious to moisture – performs well under a daily regimen of rigorous cleaning, cyclical temperature change, and wet conditions.
- Non-yellowing Colorfast - will not obscure detection of debris or unsanitary conditions.
- Odor-free after curing. No odor to contaminate food or other products - no need to seal off adjacent areas when applying. Particularly well-suited for mission critical environments. Recommended product mock-up for client evaluation if slight odor during curing is an issue.
- High-gloss blends well into Arcoplast high gloss gel coat panels; aesthetically pleasing.
- Environmentally neutral Contains no solvents (100% solids) - does not require an expensive hood system or explosion-proof equipment and will not deplete the ozone. Contains no known carcinogens, mutagens, teratogens, heavy metal, or other toxic substances. Contains no pesticides or chemicals having pesticidal characteristics.
- Effective on the job. Easy tooling and feathering - readily applied by skilled craftspeople. Low shrinkage - not cured by solvent evaporation and therefore has minimal shrinkage. Heavy body with non-sag characteristics - allows for application to vertical surfaces. Easy to clean and maintain.
Chemical Resistance: Solvent-resistant when cured. Resists most chemical and cleaning agents at low concentrated levels. Consult with an Arcoplast technical representative for specific chemical evaluations. Environmental Resistance: Resists sunlight, weathering, humidity, and salt spray. Packaging: 2:1 ratio side-by-side cartridges with total mixed product capacity of 400mls. Mixing: Automatically mixed in proper (2:1) ratio when using recommended dispensing system with static mixer. Surface Preparation: Prior to application, remove all foreign matter and contaminants, such as surface dirt, oil, and loose particles. - Arcoplast gel coated fiberglass panels. Clean surface with a clean cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
- Blast metal surfaces. Prime or grit. Use a solvent wash followed by priming for optimum bond performance.
Application: Apply from joined cartridges with a hand or pneumatic tool. Setting time: For application and tooling, a 6 mm (1/4 inch) diameter bead has an approximate Working time of 30 minutes at 75°F. Tooling: Tooling is recommended immediately after application to insure uniform contact on both sides of the joint area, resulting in a smooth, continuous, and aesthetically pleasing appearance. Curing: Handling strength develops in approximately 12 hours at room temperature. Full strength is achieved after 72 hours. Clean up: Thoroughly clean sealant residue from adjacent surfaces prior to cure. Isopropyl alcohol and other organic solvents are good cleaning aids. Caution: Smears and smudges that cure will be permanently affixed to surface. Storage: Store for 6 months from date of shipment at temperatures of 10°C-27°C (50°F-80°F). If cartridge is not fully dispensed, keep the current static mixer dispense tip on until next application and then replace with new needle. Typical Properties of Arcoplast Finishing Compound
